'The Barramundi Capital of Australia', Burketown is approx 420km north of Mount Isa and sits on the divide between the northern wetlands and southern, savannah grass plains. It is also close to immense salt plains, which are beautiful when seen from the sky. This small country town has a population of 176, who enjoy the lifestyle and fishing. Each April, Burketown hosts the World Barramundi Fishing Championships and in September and October the Morning Glory Clouds roll in.
